March.
o Bring water.
o Wear hats and sunscreen as appropriate.
• Meet at 2 pm. at the Historic Williamson County Courthouse on the S.
Austin Avenue (Across from Mesquite Creek Outfitters)
• We will have megaphones and begin to march when a majority arrive.
• We will march for about an hour.
• We must not block the sidewalks; so single file if anyone is walking by
in the opposite direction.
• Be Loud; Be Proud
• Reminder, there are Marches in all 50 states this weekend. You are
in one of a few Marches planned in Texas…..Make the Women of
Texas Proud!
• Let’s Turn Texas Blue!!
• There are 19 “VOTE” patches for Girl Scouts that participate. Please
contact Summer B. after the rally if you would like a patch. She will
have one of the megaphones.
Safety Guidelines:
• Don’t Engage With Anti-Abortion Protesters.
o If anti-abortion protesters try to talk to you, do NOT reply. If they
try to give you materials, you do NOT have to take them.
o Your best move is to ignore them.
• You may see people protesting AGAINST the right to abortion. These
counter-protesters may be vocal, but they shouldn’t keep you from
marching for your beliefs.
• Keep in mind:
o Anti-abortion activists want to control people’s decisions about
their bodies. They want their personal beliefs to override the
freedom of others.
o Counter-protesters’ signs are often designed to shame, scare,
and provoke. They may use graphic, inaccurate depictions of
abortion to make this routine and essential health procedure
seem horrific and dangerous. Don’t buy it.
• Remember that you are rallying to make your voice heard to our
government and to the public. Keep your focus on these proactive
efforts.
• We will have monitors making sure that no one is blocking the
sidewalk.
• If you can’t walk far, please let me know upon arrival, and we can
station you at one of the 4 corners of the courthouse. These positions
will also be given a air horn to sound in case of an emergency.
